Wired for Reading Phonics Intensive, Hamlin Robinson School, February 16-17, 2018

Designed for those who have completed the introductory course, the new Wired for Reading Phonics Intensive Workshop delves more deeply into the teaching and implementation of the phonics-based Core and Complex levels of the House of English. As a workshop-style course, we will focus on the letter side of the Vowel Key using the phonics stories to teach the syllable types including:

Baby Short

Open Teen

Magic e

O-Team

Crazy r

Copy Consonants

Two Vowels Go Walking

Falls (–ff, -ll, -ss, -zz)

Over Check (-tch, -ck)

Gadget (-dge)

Helpful Silent e

Diva Y

In addition we will teach phonics games in more depth including Murtle the Mouth Trickster and the Dr. Safe Spell sort and we will review the fluency packet routine. Finally, we will play with Parts of Speech and explore how to write meaningful, well-constructed sentences.
